About our Practice

We practice the sort of Dentistry that we’d like for ourselves and our families.  Everything that’s done at this practice is done within that basic framework.  Dentistry can be a calm, gentle process.  The purpose of this website is to give you an overview of the sort of work that we do and to allow easy access.

• Dr Jeff McGrath graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (first class honors), from the University of Queensland in 1976.  He was awarded the ADA Prize, the Aust. Society of Periodontology Prize and the James Egerton Cary Prize.
• Jeff has been practicing in Canberra since 1977, initially in Civic, then moving to Woden in 1980 and Francis Chambers in 1985.
• Our Practice uses the latest, most advanced technology in all sorts of areas (without the meaningless ‘show-biz’ elements).  For example, we use the best digital x-ray technology, because of its accuracy, ease of use and VERY low x-ray dose (you can literally do 8 to 10 of this type of digital x-ray for every 1 of the traditional variety).  On the other hand, we don’t use ‘laser’ tooth whitening because it creates the illusion of being high-tech, but is mostly just ‘show-biz’.  We use a less glamorous version that’s very safe and actually works and works really well.  As we said before, we use what we’d like ourselves.

They are a group of quality people, ranging from Jill and Jenny who’ve been with us for almost 30 years, to Jen, one of our youngest, who’s in her early 20’s.  Each of them is among the very best in their respective field (honestly).  Our support people, Ceramists and Specialists are world class (genuinely so).  You won’t be referred anywhere that we wouldn’t be very happy to go ourselves.
